This sign was prominently placed in our camp. I was thinking about putting a similar sign up at my house :)

These girls know how to have fun! We had a "Night at the Opera", and they were divided into groups. Each group was given a bag full of props and 2 songs. They had to come up with a mini-opera about camp using every prop and both songs (at least the melodies- they could use their own words). It was great. They were all so creative, and hilarious! I was in pain from laughing so hard.

After the silliness, the girls got serious and sang our camp theme song "Hold Our Torches High". It was amazing. As I looked into the faces of each of those girls, I could see the potential that they have. They are so strong. After they sang, we had our testimony meeting with the bishopric. For probably 2 hours, each girl and leader took turns sharing feelings and testimonies. We all left that night strengthened and uplifted. I am truly blown away by the depth that these girls have, and I'm humbled by the responsibility that I have to lead them. I feel like in so many ways, they are leading me. I hope I can rise to the ocassion, and be the kind of leader that the Lord would have me be.

The day after I got home from camp, we packed up and headed up to the condo in Wolf Creek. Ben's 7th birthday happened while I was at camp, so first on the agenda was a party!! Ben was so excited to be able to have his party at one of our favorite places.

This was the second year in a row that we were at the condo for the 4th of July. We have decided to make it a tradition. We went to the Hunstville Park for their festivities. We started the day bright and early with a race. I ran the 10K, and Todd and the kids did the 5K. It was a beautiful morning, and a beautiful course.

Aaron did great in the 5K. It was only his second 5K, and he did it in just over 30 minutes. He really enjoys running, and I know with practice, he's going to get really fast.

Amazingly, my 10K time of 53:52 was good enough for first place in my age group! I was pretty surprised because it definitely was not the best I've done, but I was happy with it. After the race we had a nice breakfast in the park and then went back to the condo for swimming. Later that night we went back to the park and watched the big fireworks display. Huntsville does a really great job, and we love the small-town feel. It reminds us of how Riverton and Draper used to be when we were growing up. We had a great time.

It sounds like a great summer so far! You have been busy!!
Yeah for Crescent 12th ward...I can't believe how grown up all those girls are...I hardly recognized them. Crazy to think Rachel would have been there with you...looks like you had alot of fun.
Looks like you have been busy. Girls camp is always so much fun. We missed seeing you guys at the parade!
I'm glad you guys could have fun. You were definitely missed in Oregon, though. I'm a little jealous you're in Young Womens. I think that would be so much fun. Huntsville is a fun place for the 4th. We went to their fireworks when Noah was a baby, and we had so much fun. I think that sounds like such a fun tradition to spend the 4th up there.
